Eligibility FAQ

Q: We have received claim rejects for reason code U5200 advising the patient has no Part A entitlement. How can we verify the patient’s eligibility?
A: There are two ways to obtain Part A eligibility information:
1. DDE users can pull the eligibility information by using the ELGA or HIQA screens. Hospice information will show on page 2 for both the ELGA and HIQA screens.
2. Contact the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) unit by calling (877) 602-8816. From the main menu, press “5” for eligibility information, press “1” for current eligibility information and/or press “2” for previous date of service eligibility.
Always remember to check beneficiary eligibility prior to submitting the claims to your fiscal intermediary.
